"Absolutely NOT.""But, dad-" Mercy practically whined. Her father wasn't having it though. There was no way she was leaving the house with her midriff showing. Not on his watch. "No buts. You're not leaving this house with all of that hanging out. Do you know what kind of guys are out there?" John looked up from his breakfast, the others trying to hide their smirks as Mercy was being told off for wearing an outfit that was much too revealing. "He's right, Merc. There's guys like me out there. You can't wear that," John agreed. "I think it's cute," Sophia said, frying pan in hand as she placed more breakfast sausages onto the boys' plates. Unsurprisingly, the boys were already ready to go, but the girls were still preparing themselves for their day in Diagon Alley. "The girls better hurry or there isn't going to be anything left for them for breakfast..." Sophia set the frying pan down, shaking her head. She'd already called for them twice and getting them out of bed had been quite a hassle as well. "You're not helping," James said to his wife, shooting her a look. Sophia only rolled her eyes at him, but she didn't argue. "You look like a slut. Give me another... what do you call it? A waffle?" Ethel nudged Cailan with her elbow, indicating the plate of waffles. Jared nearly choked on his bacon when Ethel said this and John gave him a good whack on the back. Mercy was red in the face with anger, but she wasn't exactly going to tell her great grandmother to shut up... no matter how much she wanted to. Eric and Cailan busted up with laughter, Mercy's dangerous look doing nothing to silence them. "UGH! I HATE ALL OF YOU! YOU'RE RUINING MY LIFE!" Mercy said, stomping out of the kitchen and back up to her bedroom to change. "Aww, we love you too, sweetheart!" Sophia called after her eldest daughter, pouring the boys more to drink. "Aiden, your parents forgot to leave money for you. Your mother sent an owl with it just this morning. If I forget to give it to you when we leave, remind me. Cailan, your mother told me not to let you spend all of your money on junk like you did last year." Sophia pointed her spatula at her nephew, giving him a slight look. "It wasn't junk!" Cailan insisted. "You bought five pounds of chocolate frogs and a bunch of fireworks," Eric pointed out. Cailan couldn't exactly argue with that. "Hey, you helped set off those fireworks." Sophia just sighed and went back to the eggs she had on the stove. In the living room, you could hear the sounds of Luce and Ethan cracking up over the cartoons they were watching. They would be staying with Ethel for the day, despite Sophia's insistence that it probably wasn't best to leave the children with the batty old woman. Okay, she hadn't used those exact words, but they all knew that's what she meant. Letting out a huff, Mercy walked into the bedroom she shared with Elizabeth and pulled open her dresser drawer. Shuffling through it for a new shirt, she mumbled under her breath about fathers and brothers just not understanding fashion. Lydia was standing in front of the mirror in the bathroom, adjusting her own outfit and sighing. "I told you your dad wouldn't let you walk out of the house in that top..." Lydia said, turning to the side to check herself out while Mercy shot her a look. "Does this look alright?" Lydia asked, clearly frustrated. She'd already changed her shirt three times and changed her shorts twice. Pulling off her top and putting on a new tank, Mercy looked up. "I liked the last twenty outfits that you had on, but yes... this one looks nice... Aiden will like it," Mercy said with a smirk. Lydia blushed a thousand shades of red and pink. "That's not why I want to look nice..." Mercy just laughed at her. "Yes it is. Don't forget to squeeze your boobs together when you talk to him."JohnEricJaredCailanMercyLydia

”Have you seen my shirt? You know, the one with the giant black heart with the arrow through it? I NEED that shirt it’s the only one that will go perfectly with my outfit.” Lizzie said as she was digging through one of her dresser drawers. She had been looking for this one shirt for about fifteen minutes now. She sighed and shoved the drawer closed and opened the one beneath it. Emily glanced up at her friend and shook her head, walking towards a pile of discarded clothes from about a week ago on Lizzie’s side of the room. Tossing a couple of articles of clothing to the side she held up the shirt in question and said ”You mean this one? The one you tried on last week and said you hated?” Lizzie squealed and snatched it from her. ”I NEVER said that, it’s one of my favorites!” She insisted as she pulled it over the white tank top she had on. Emily only shook her head at her friend before finishing getting ready herself. Meanwhile Aiden and Killian were downstairs, having already gotten dressed as breakfast was more important than making sure their hair looked ‘just right’. Therefore they caught the entire Mercy fit about having to change her shirt. They both took a rather happy interest in their eggs and sausages, smiling at their plates while biting back their laughter. Aiden waited until she was stomping away to mimic Mercy in Eric’s direction as she left ”Oh my lawd you’re like ruining my life!” He said in a whisper so that he wouldn’t get a lecture from Sophia. Her voice made him look up right after he said this, scared that she had heard him but then he smiled. She might not be his mom but all of them called her that since they had practically grown up there as much time they spent in the Scarborough house when not at Hogwarts. ”Thanks mom, I promise to spend it on responsible stuff.” Of course he had other ideas for that money but Sophia didn’t need to know that. Killian gave him a knowing look before snagging some sausage off of Aiden’s plate. Upstairs, Katerina was digging through her bag looking for her thin brown belt when Mercy came stomping back in. ”You could always wear it underneath something and take the top shirt off later.” She suggested, but had the feeling that that would only end in disaster if James were to see her while shopping. Finally she found the belt and pulled it around her waist. She giggled at Mercy’s suggestion that Lydia squeeze her boobs together whenever Aiden was near her. Her phone beeped before she could pipe in and she checked it. It was her boyfriend Justin. ”Oh! It looks like we might run into Justin while we’re there too.” She informed her friends. Emily looked over at her sister and shook her head. She honestly didn’t like this Justin guy and it had nothing to do with him being from Slytherin. KaterinaEmilyLizzieAidenKillianAthenaKeiran

Eric couldn't help but smirk when Aiden mimicked Mercy and Cailan snorted. John rolled his eyes when his sister stormed away and Jared was eagerly awaiting another egg. "Sweetheart, you have to stop eating so fast. It's no good for your digestive system. If you're not careful, you'll be fat as a house in a few years," Sophia said to Jared, though she gave him another egg anyway. While Jared was biologically her brother, she and James had adopted him after their parents' death when Jared was just an infant. Jared hadn't learned the truth until his parents thought he was old enough to understand, but it didn't really change much. Sure it bothered him that his biological parents were dead, but Sophia and James were his parents now and they didn't love him any less than they loved their biological children.
"What are you talking about? He's already fat as a house," Ethel stated, squirting ketchup onto her waffles. "He is not fat. You're not fat, honey..." Sophia insisted. While Jared, who was anything but fat, gave Ethel a look, John continued eating only to look over at Ethel's plate, a look of horror crossing his face. Nudging Cailan, his cousin looked over as well, his expression going from happy to completely disgusted. "Grandma... what are you doing?" Eric looked, noticing this as well. Cailan actually looked like he was going to throw up.
"Haven't you ever seen a person eat before, you little shit?" Ethel snapped at Eric, shaking sugar over her ketchup covered waffles. John gagged. James stood by the counter, pouring himself another cup of coffee when he turned around and saw exactly what his grandmother was doing. "Gran, that's not how you eat waffles..." he said to her, looking at her plate with a great deal of distaste.
"Not you too young man!" Ethel said, pointing her fork at James. "You look here, I'll eat this weird muggle food you bring home any way I want to and you'll like it. I don't need to answer to you. Have you forgotten who raised you? Have you forgotten who changed your diapers and stayed up with you when you were sick? You should be grateful that I didn't sell you to the circus."
"You tried to once," James said, taking the sugar from her and pouring some into his coffee. "And I would have been successful too if you'd just shut your mouth." James rolled his eyes. "I'm pretty sure they could clearly see that I was just a little kid dressed as a lion, even before I opened my mouth." Ethel grumbled a little, cutting up her rather disgusting waffles.
"Why did you try to sell dad to the circus?" John asked his great grandmother, curious. "I caught him being a little peeping tom and spying on the neighbor's daughter-"
"I was five and I was shutting the curtains!" James insisted as Eric and Cailan busted out laughing and Sophia shot him a look. John and Jared both smirked at this. "He wanted to be an animal, so he was going to be treated like an animal," Ethel said. "Besides, I wouldn't have actually left you there. Your grandfather never would have let me hear the end of it. I just wanted to try to teach you a lesson." Taking a bite of her waffle, Ethel immediately spit the sugar and ketchup covered monstrosity out. "This muggle food tastes like shit!"
James closed his eyes for a moment. He loved his grandmother a great deal and insisted that she wasn't always so batty, but sometimes she really tried his patience. "I'll be in the living room, watching the telemachine," the old lady said, getting up and throwing her entire plate, utensils and all, into the trash can. Sophia's body tensed a little at this and she opened her mouth to tell the old woman for the twentieth time that dirty dishes belonged in the sink, but shut it once more when James shook his head at her.
When Ethel finally left the kitchen, Sophia turned back to the boys. "Aiden, would you go and tell the girls to hurry up? The food is going to be cold by the time they get down here, or there isn't going to be anything left. I don't feel like hearing any of them complain about being hungry as soon as we get to Diagon Alley."
"We won't be going anywhere unless those letters get here soon," James pointed out. "They'll be here shortly, I guarantee it," Sophia said to her husband.
Up in the girls' room, Mercy shrugged shook her head at Kat's suggestion. "Are you kidding me? With my luck, one of the boys would see me and go running straight to dad," she said, rolling her eyes. Looking at her new top, she was satisfied enough with it. Lydia came out of the bathroom and started poking through Mercy's perfumes, trying to find one that she liked... and one that Aiden might like. When Kat mentioned Justin, her eyes flashed to Mercy, who gave her a look as well, and then to Lizzie and Emily.
"Kat... you know we love you, but-" Lydia started to say. "Your boyfriend is sort of a creepy jerk. Why are you still dating him?" Mercy finished for her when Lydia hesitated. Chewing on her bottom lip a little, Lydia nodded in agreement. She wouldn't have put it quite like that, but that was pretty much what she was thinking as well. "I mean... we just think you can do better than Justin... what about John? Everybody knows the two of you have the hots for each other."
Mercy shot Lydia a sharp glare. "No, not John. Have you met my brother? He's a swine." Lydia rolled her eyes. "I think he really likes Kat though..." she insisted. "John has his eyes on one thing and one thing only. BOOBS."
"Speaking of boobs, you can't see my bra through this shirt, can you?" Lydia asked, looking down at her chest after finally finding a perfume that she really liked and spraying it on herself.

Killian watched as the batty old witch completely ruined her waffles by covering them first in ketchup and then adding at least a quarter inch of sugar, his appetite ruined just like that. Ethel was one of the reasons he loved visiting the Scarborough residence, but today she just thoroughly disgusted him. Sometimes he wondered if she didn’t do some things on purpose just so she can see other people’s reactions. Pushing his plate away he watched her take a bite out of the concoction and then spit it out. He shook his head and mouthed towards John ”You’re grandmother is completely looney I swear.”
Aiden was still trying not to laugh, especially when Ethel admitted to trying to sell James to the circus when he was a boy. His shoulders were visibly shaking from his bottled up laughter so he was quite relieved when Sophia asked him to go fetch the girls. Killian stood up with him, ”I’ll come with you.” He said as they walked away, then added quietly ”Someone needs to be there to pick you’re jaw up from the floor before Lydia sees it hanging wide open.” He winked and elbowed him in the side as they went up the stairs to fetch the girls.
Katerina looked up from her phone to her friends and her sister. ”What are y’all talking about? He’s not creepy. And I do NOT have the hots for John, he’s so rude and childish and just annoying.” She said to them. She had never understood why they didn’t like Justin. ”Y’all just need to get to know him better.” She insisted to deaf ears. Her sister and Lizzie were too busy checking to see if Lydia's bra was showing, which it was. Lizzie giggled and nodded while Emily told her ”Yeah, but that will only aid you in getting Aiden’s attention.” It was only a few moments after this that he walked through the door, without knocking I might add.
They walked up to the door Aiden still denying the fact that he was into Lydia, which wasn’t true, and he was about to knock when Killian just barged in. ”You girls HAVE to be ready by now. Seriously our letters will probably be downstairs before you get there, come ON.” Killian said as he walked into the room and flounced onto Mercy’s bed, taking one of her pillows and then throwing it at her. Aiden though was too busy trying NOT to look at Lydia and was looking everywhere else but at her. ”Yeah, mom said to come eat before breakfast is cold.” He added to what Killian had said, his eyes darting to Lydia and away and back again. Was her bra really showing through her shirt or was that just wishful thinking on his part?

John nodded in agreement when Killian mouthed this to him. It seemed as though the woman was getting worse in her old age. "She belongs in the looney bin," John agreed quietly. "JOHN!" A swift smack on the back of his head from his mother made him wince. "That's your great grandmother you're talking about!" Sophia scolded. "But I heard you say the exact same thing to Aunt Elyse the other day!" he grumbled, rubbing the back of his head. At this, James shot Sophia a look, even as she feigned innocence. "I don't know what you're talking about young man," she insisted, avoiding her husband's gaze as she fished Ethel's plate out of the trash. "Grandma Ethel is a valued member of our family, even if she's a little on the... quirky side.""Oh enough with the ruse, Soph. Quirky my ass, that woman is insane," James finally said, leaning against the counter and drinking his coffee. John smirked and this time it was Sophia's turn to give her husband a look. "Just finish your breakfast," Sophia said to the boys. John, Jared, Cailan, and Eric were happy to do just that. "Okay, okay, you don't have the hots for John... even though I saw you oggling him by the pool the other day. And I'm not trying to get Ai-" Lydia started to insist, just as the door swung open and Killian barged in, followed by Aiden. Mercy gave Killian a look that could kill and Lydia's face reddened as she prayed that Aiden hadn't heard anything that was just said. "Don't you know how to knock?" she complained as she got hit with a pillow. Picking it up off of the floor, she threw it back at him, aiming for his face. Lydia couldn't help but glance at Aiden once or twice and, for a moment, she was sure that he had been looking at her... or rather, her slightly visible bra. The heat just wouldn't leave her face and she wanted to kick herself. She'd been into Aiden for ages now, but there was no way he could possibly share in her affections. Was there? No, no... there most certainly wasn't. "I'm surprised there's even anything left to eat considering the way you guys eat..." Lydia said, trying to pull herself back to reality, to think about something other than Aiden. "I'll be down in a second, maybe I should change-" Lydia started to say as everyone was heading out of the room. Mercy wouldn't hear it though and grabbed her arm, dragging her out. "No, you're not changing your clothes again. You look great. Doesn't she look great Aiden? Tell her she looks great." Lydia shot Mercy a dark look, green eyes blazing, but her friend only smiled brightly as she dragged her down the hallway. Once in the kitchen, the girls climbed into their seats and, after a wave of Sophia's wand, the spatula and plate of food on the table started to dish out the food to the girls on its own while the pitcher started pouring each of them some orange juice. Sophia, who seemed to know every allergy and every dislike among the children that weren't even hers, was already pouring grapefruit juice for Lydia. As always, Lydia felt a pang in her heart. Her own mother didn't even know that she didn't like orange juice that much. Though it made her feel guilty, she often wished that Sophia was her mother instead. "Don't look so down, sweetheart," Sophia said to Lydia, catching her in the midst of these thoughts as she set Lydia's glass down in front of her. "Thanks, mom," Lydia said, pushing back thoughts of her own mother. The dishes in the sink were washing themselves and John, who was putting his plate into the sink, looked out the window. "They're here..." he said with some amount of dread. He'd been dreading the results of his O.W.L.s all morning long. As he opened the window behind the sink, most of the owls fluttered in and landed rather smoothly... except for the one that couldn't stop and barreled right into John, knocking him to the ground as it caught him by surprise. Eric and Cailan laughed at him while Sophia just shook her head. "What are you doing? Get up off of the floor," she said, as James gave John a hand. Another owl landed right on Kat's plate, knocking over her glass of juice as well. With a sigh, Sophia waved her wand, the glass picking itself back up and the spilled juice disappearing entirely. For a moment, there was a lot of "Is this one mine?"s and "No that's mine, here's yours"s going around. Luce and Ethan ran in out of excitement, giving each owl a treat before they took off out the window again while everyone opened their letters. While James consoled a crying Lucinda, who had been nipped on the finger by one of the owls by accident, Sophia stood behind John, Jared, and Killian expectantly. "WELL?" she demanded, tapping her foot expectantly. You could see the relief wash over her when the boys handed over their O.W.L. results and she got a good look at them. James came over as well as Luce and Ethan ran back to the living room, taking the results from Sophia as she handed them to him. "A troll? Really?" she asked Jared, arching a brow. "It's just in Divination, Soph. Nobody actually cares about that stuff," James said in his defense. ORDINARY WIZARDING LEVEL RESULTS

Everybody else was busy looking at their own letter and, when something fell out of Eric's envelope, Sophia's attention darted to him. Before he could even reach for the badge, his mother snatched it right up. "OH MY GOD! JAMES! LOOK! OUR BABY IS HEAD BOY!" Sophia squealed, practically suffocating Eric with her hug. John and Jared both gave their brother a look. "Loser..." John mumbled. "Soph, he's not going to be head boy much longer if you smother him to death," James pointed out, prompting her to finally release Eric who had been turning a little blue. He sucked in a lungful of air and his color started to return, though he looked pleased with himself.

Killian caught the pillow before it could hit him in the face and put it on the bed beside him as he sat up. ”Nope, my mother never taught me that one. If it isn’t locked it’s fair game.” He told her with a wink. He caught sight of Lydia and a smile crossed his face as he then looked over Aiden to see if he had noticed what Killian had just noticed. Yep. He totally had. He snickered to himself as he walked over to his buddy and clapped him on the back. ”Yeah Aiden, tell her she looks great.” Oh this day was just getting better and better Killian thought. Aiden cleared his throat as he followed the girls out and said in a tight voice ”You look great.” while also throwing a death look at Killian. He was going to get him back for that one. Katerina, Lizzie and Emily followed Mercy who was dragging Lydia down the stairs to breakfast and slipped into their seats. Elizabeth cut up her eggs and began shoveling them into her mouth as quickly as possible, not wanting to waste too much time on breakfast so that they could get to shopping. Emily though took her time, every now and then she would happen to look over and see Lydia’s bra through her shirt and almost broke into fits of laughter. Once she even snorted her orange juice out of her nose. Katerina gave her a look at this point, she was mainly pushing her food around her plate having eaten most of the sausage but hardly any of the eggs. Her mind was still caught up on Lydia’s suggestion that she had the hots for John. She HADN’T been oggling him by the pool the other day…not that she would admit to them anyways, plus…she had a boyfriend. They all looked up as John fell from being hit by an owl, and Kat quickly pushed her chair away from the table as one of the landed in her plate and spilled the remaining portion of her juice. Good thing she was already finished. Killian snatched his envelope from her as she took it off the owl in front of her and she grabbed hers when it was handed to her. Killian looked over his O.W.L.s and grinned then snatched John and Jared’s to compare. ”HA! I did better than both of you in Divination, and I totally bull-er-faked my way through that one.”Killian Jason Mikaelson has achieved:

Katerina wasn’t even paying attention to hers when she opened it and when she opened her letter a badge tumbled across the table right into Killian’s lap. She went to reach for it but it was no use. ”Oh look guys Kitty is a ickle prefect now!” Killian said as he made a show of handing the badge across the table to her. Aiden smacked him on the head playfully and the said ”Gryffindor has a new Quidditch Captian too, good thing I don’t have to deal with you during that. You’d lose us our games with all your joking around.” He tossed the badge from his letter over to Eric so that his buddy could get a better look at it.

Sophia had never been quite so delighted. Not only had Jared, John , and Killian all passed their O.W.L.s, but Eric was Head Boy, Aiden was quidditch captain, and Katerina was now a prefect... the day just couldn't get any better. "Oh, I'm so proud of each of you," she said, squeezing Aiden in a tight hug before giving one to Kat as well. "We need to celebrate..." she insisted. "I'm going to make something special for dinner tomorrow night. Maybe even a cake for desert." Kissing Kat on top of the head, she tucked her hair behind her ear. "Don't forget to let your parents know," She said to Aiden and Kat, walking over and taking the boys' O.W.L. results and sticking them on the fridge.
"Mom, you don't have to-" John started to say, feeling like a child whose art work was being hung on up. She stopped him right there though. "Sweetheart, I'm just so relieved that you boys passed." Jared just looked at her. "Did you expect us to get trolls in everything?" he asked. Eric, who caught the badge Aiden tossed to him, leaned forward to look down at his brothers. "Yes, that's what everyone expected," he said.
"Shut up. What does "HB" stand for? Hairy Butthole?" John asked Eric. "Haha, very funny," Eric said, observing Aiden's captain badge. "Where'd you get that insult, from grandma?" Sophia sighed. "Boys, enough."
"He started it," both Eric and John said at the same time. "If the two of you don't shut up, I'm going to finish it," James remarked, observing Eric's Head Boy badge with a sense of pride. Lydia and Mercy were both most interested in Aiden's new title. After showing Kat their excitement for her and observing her badge, they both got out of their chairs to go and hound Aiden.
"Listen, Mr. Quidditch Captain," Lydia said, poking him in his side while Mercy snatched the badge from Eric to take a look at it. "Get up," she said to Jared, practically pushing him out of the chair so that she could sit next to Aiden. "Mercy and I have a lot of ideas for the team this year. We have some plays in mind." John rolled his eyes. "What are the two of you, quidditch experts now?" he asked Mercy and Lydia, both of whom shot him an icy glare, responding with a "Yes," in unison. "Let me see that," Lydia said, reaching across Aiden to take the badge from Mercy. Both girls had been on the team since their third year. "The cup is definitely ours this year. Slytherin doesn't stand a chance... Two galleons says that Roland Slater is the new captain. Aiden beats him by a long shot," Lydia said, handing the badge back to Aiden and smiling. Quidditch had always been her passion and she had a great deal of skill. "But it also helps that you have some of the best chasers ever on the team."
"I don't know, I think it might be time to replace the chasers," John said. "They outnumber you. If you're not careful, they might convince Aiden to get a new seeker this year," Cailan said to John, reading over his book list. "I think that sounds like a great idea," Lydia said. "Me too," Mercy responded. Jared, having been pushed out of his chair, went and stood behind Kat, a devilish smile on his face. "So, Kat... a prefect, ehh?" he asked her as Sophia left the room to make sure she had everything they needed to go shopping. "Congrats.... Can I see your badge?" He glanced over at Killian, but then swiftly shifted his gaze back to Kat.

Katerina was actually rather excited about becoming a prefect but she wasn’t all that thrilled about having it made into a big deal, even if it did tie into the others getting good O.W.L marks and Aiden becoming Quidditch Captian. But she knew better than to tell Sophia not to bother, she would do it anyways because that was who she was. Sighing she pinned the badge to her shirt and took a selfie in it right before Jared walked into the shot. She would send it to her mom and dad later when no one else was around to make fun of her for it. Kat turned around to look at Jared, giving him one of those ‘go to hell’ looks and said ”No you may not see my badge, there’s no way on Earth I’d give it to you.” She glanced in Killian’s direction and added ”Either of you. She gave her big brother one of those pleading looks and said ”YOU’RE not going to make fun of me are you? Of course she knew that was probably too good to be true.
Emiy and Lizzie were listening in on the Quidditch conversation, Lizzie in hopes that they might spill some of their strategy ideas in front of her and Emily just to keep track of how many times Aiden happened to glance at Lydia’s boobs instead of her face. So far the count was up to five and she was going to inform Lydia of the final number when they were safely away from the guys in Diagon Alley. Aiden was having a seriously hard time concentrating on their words instead of Lydia’s see through shirt, as she was sitting right beside him and giving him a very good view. He kept having to remind himself that her eyes were up on her head and not in her chest region.
One glance across the table at Lizzie and he suddenly stopped the conversation. ”Maybe you should wait until we get to school to start telling me your ideas, otherwise you might end up giving some of them up to the team.” Aiden said, looking pointedly at Elizabeth. ”What? Y’all were about to talk strategy? I had NO idea!” She said feigning innocence but not quite being able to conceal her smile. Ugh why did he have to notice her? She just thought for sure he would never look away from those boobs being practically shoved in his face.

Of course Lydia didn't even notice where Aiden's eyes were, but she was usually pretty oblivious when it came to that sort of thing anyway. When Aiden suggested waiting for this conversation, Mercy, Lydia, John, Cailan, and Eric all followed his gaze to Lizzie. Mercy loved her little sister and was incredibly close to her... but when it came to quidditch, they were ruthless. "Right..." Mercy said, narrowing her eyes on Lizzie. "You stay away from, Aiden, you two... if he has any 'accidents,' before school even starts, we'll know it was one of you," Mercy warned Lizzie and Emily. "Don't walk down the stairs with either of them behind you, Aiden," Lydia warned.
"Don't eat or drink anything they give you... maybe we should have somebody taste all of your food before you eat it from now on..." John added in. "I volunteer Killian," Mercy said as Lydia nodded. "The fate of Gryffindor depends on you," said Cailan, whose attention was then drawn to Kat when she asked him this question. "Kat, that's a stupid question. OF COURSE I'm going to make fun of you," he said, shaking his head. "You've practically joined the loser club."
Eric's brows knitted together and he looked at Cailan. "What about Aiden and I?" he asked. Cailan gave him a tight lipped smile. "Like I said, you guys are in the loser club, and you're now their king."
"All hail Hairy Butt," John said, only to get pelted in the head by the wadded up envelope that Eric threw at him. "Aww, Kat... you're not in the loser club. I've always held the prefects in high esteem," Jared said, sucking up. This couldn't have been further from the truth. Jared, Killian, and John weren't just the biggest troublemakers in Gryffindor. They were the biggest troublemakers in the school. Jared himself took delight in pranking the prefects. "That badge looks so nice on you... but I think I see a spot on it. Here, let me polish it off for you."

Elizabeth and Emily just rolled their eyes at Mercy’s suggestion that they keep away from Aiden. Like they would actually do something to take him out of the competition. That would make it just too easy. ”We don’t need Aiden out of the picture, Ravenclaw is going to win just fine with him as Quidditch Captain.” Lizzie said confidently. Aiden scoffed at her and said ”How? You can’t even catch a fly in front of your nose!” Of course this made Lizzie angry. ”That is so untrue!’ ”Isn’t.” Aiden said back. ”Is too!” Their argument continued like this as Killian said ”I am not about to be his taste tester, he wouldn’t have any food left after I ate it all. Y’all really want to starve our Captain?”
”I say you are the loser, I’m the one following in mom and dad’s footsteps…unlike you.” Katerina shot back at her brother. Okay, maybe that was below the belt a little bit…but nothing was off limits between their group of friends and family. ”Ohhhhh burn! Kitty got you right where it hurt man!” Killian said grinning, he was somewhat proud of Katerina in that moment. Jared’s comment made her look back over at him and roll her eyes at his blatant ass kissing. She was not falling for it, not even for a second. ”If you so much as touch my badge, any one of you, you’ll wish you hadn’t.” She was serious, she had found a rather fantastic spell to make someone’s hair all of it bright purple and it would last up to a week at least unless they knew the counter curse.

"Yeah, following mom and dad's footsteps straight to Loserville," Cailan said to Kat, rolling his eyes at her and Killian. As for Jared, he just backed away with his hands innocently in the air. "Fine, fine, I won't touch it," he insisted, though something in his blue eyes just screamed that he wasn't being too truthful right there. "I just wanted to admire it. Can't I be proud of my dear friend?"
"I'll gladly be his taste tester," John volunteered, just as Sophia came back into the kitchen. "Hurry up you lot, we have a lot of shopping to do." James was right behind her, carrying a measuring tape. "Line up girls, and pray that your shorts and skirts are long enough," he proclaimed. "MOM!" Mercy complained, eyes wide. "James... don't," Sophia sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.
It wasn't much longer before they were all standing in front of the fire place inside of the Leaky Cauldron, James being the last of them to come out of the fire. "Right," he said, urging his brood away from the hearth so that others could get through the floo network. Sophia was already making sure that everyone had their money. "We can meet back here by... six o'clock? Have a nice dinner and be on our way. How does that sound?"
"Don't go spending any of your money on junk until each of you has bought your school supplies, got it?" Sophia said, her eyes sweeping over all of them. "And don't any of you get yourselves into any trouble. I don't want a repeat of last year..." As she said this last bit, she looked pointedly at John, Jared, and Killian. "Now go, but don't go spoiling your dinner," Sophia pleaded, watching all eleven teenagers scatter to the wind.
"Hold up," James said before Mercy could go anywhere, grabbing hold of her arm. "I didn't do anything," Mercy said, narrowing her eyes at her father. "I'm serious, Mercy. If those Slaters are here today, you stay clear. I don't want to see you hanging around any of them." Mercy pressed her lips together in a firm line. She loved her father, but his issue with the Slaters was totally unfounded. Keiran and Athena were nothing like their parents and she wished that her father would just learn to accept that. She'd been best friends with both of them for a while now, despite their parents' protests, and was especially close with Keiran. It was safe to say that the feelings she harbored for him ran deeper than friendship. It wasn't like they could be in an exclusive relationship though.
"Dad-" Mercy started to say, but he cut her off before she could get another word in. "I mean it. I especially don't want to see you running around with that boy. He's no good for you. Promise me."
"I promise," she said, pulling away from him and walking away out of frustration. Catching up to Kat and Lydia, she looped her arms with each of them. "Where to first?" Lydia asked, looking at their shopping list. "First... we're going to go meet up with Keiran and Athena," she said, a wicked smile forming on her face, despite the promise she had just made her father.

”How do I look? Is this one shopping worthy?” Athena asked her brother as she turned and observed her outfit from different directions in the mirror. Her dress skimmed her legs mid-thigh, showing off her long legs while her arms were mostly covered with her leather jacket. Keiran rolled his eyes and said ”I told you that the other four outfits were good, yes it looks fine come on. We were supposed to be there already, we need to go Athena.” Keiran told his sister as he practically shoved her out of her bedroom. She always used him as if he was one of her girlfriends when it came to picking out an outfit.
”I don’t know why I even worry about asking you things. All you guys think about is boobs and sex, and well in your case Mercy.” Athena said, giving him a mischievous grin and poking him in the ribs with her elbow. ”Ow, stop that geez, let’s just get going Roland and mother have hopefully left already so we won’t have to worry about them following us around.” He said, making a beeline through the house to the fireplace and handed her the pot of floopowder. ”Go on, get going. We don’t want to be late do we?” This time it was Athena’s turn to roll her eyes at her brother as she took a handful of floopowder. ”I don’t know do we?” She teased as she stepped in and threw the powder, saying Diagon Alley as she did so. Keiran followed suit right behind her.
Katerina gave Mercy a wicked knowing grin in return, having known full well that she had no intentions of listening to her father. They had made plans several days ago to meet with Keiran and Athena in Madame Malkin’s, that way it didn’t look that odd since they all needed knew robes anyways. ”Yeah, we can’t leave our friends waiting.” She said pulling her friends off towards the door so that they could go through the ‘secret’ passageway into Diagon Alley.

Mercy had always loved Diagon Alley. The stores had always amazed her as a child and now, at fifteen years old, it wasn't any different. Together, the three girls headed toward Madam Malkin's, Mercy's stomach doing somersaults the entire time. She hadn't seen Keiran since they had taken the train home from Hogwarts and... well, a lot had happened during that train ride. It was during that train ride that they'd finally decided that just being friends wasn't enough for them.
Of course, Mercy wasn't sure if what they had arranged was enough for her either though. An open relationship... of course they couldn't be exclusive, not with her father breathing down her back. She was sure that his mother would be equally unhappy considering Mercy was the daughter of the man who put her husband in Azkaban. Still, Mercy wanted more than an open relationship. She hadn't told Keiran that though, just like she hadn't told him that she didn't want to see other people and she sure as hell didn't want him seeing other people. Just the mere thought tore at her heart.
"Jeez, Merc, wait up," Lydia complained, trying to keep up with Mercy who didn't even realize that she was walking so fast. "Lover boy isn't going anywhere..." Lydia looked over at Kat, trying to hold back a giggle. "Oh, shut it... I'm just in a hurry to get our shopping done..."
"Sure," Lydia said, rolling her eyes. "I bet you a galleon that these two will breakdown in a month and admit that an open relationship isn't enough." She looked over at Kat, arching a brow. Of course she knew her friend was under a lot of pressure from her father, but all of them could see that Keiran and Mercy were practically made for each other. As close as Lydia, Kat, and Athena were with Mercy... Keiran was on an entirely different level. He was a best friend, soulmate, and life partner all rolled into one tall dark and handsome package. A small part of Lydia was actually a little envious as her mind wandered briefly to Aiden.
Mercy only shot her friends a look right before pushing open the door to Madam Malkin's. The bell above the door rang and Madam Malkin herself looked up from assisting two very familiar looking customers. When she finally laid eyes on him for the first time that summer, there was no stopping the breathtaking smile that crossed her face or the glimmer in her blue eyes. It was safe to say that Mercy was head over heels... okay, she'd been head over heels for a while now, but it only seemed to be getting worse.
"OWW! Lydia!" Mercy said, jumping when her friend pinched her. "What was that for?!" She rubbed the spot on her arm where she'd been pinched, shooting daggers at her friend. "You were staring," Lydia said wickedly, a devilish smile crossing her face as she approached Keiran and Athena by the counter. While Madam Malkin went to fetch whatever it was she needed to get their measurements and everything, the front of the shop filled with girly squeals of excitement as Lydia practically threw her arms around Athena. "I missed you! You don't write enough! You need to be writing every day!" Lydia said to Athena, squeezing her tightly. She was going to say that she was holed up with these two nutcases (Mercy and Kat) all summer, but refrained from doing so. She knew that Athena wanted to be with them for the summer just as badly as they wanted her there, especially considering how badly her mother treated her.
Following suit, Mercy approached their friends as well. "You're smothering her," she said to Lydia, trying to focus on anything but the idea of kissing Keiran. Color rose in her cheeks as she bit her lip. She couldn't deny just how nice it had been to kiss him on the train. Would it be too much if she were to pull him into a side alley at some point just to steal another while they were shopping? "Have a good summer?" she asked him, feeling rather stupid and rooted to the spot. What she'd really wanted to do the moment she walked through the door was pounce on him... unfortunately, they were in the middle of a shop.

”Put that down.” Athena said, grabbing the travelsize sewing kit from her brother’s hand. It wasn’t like he would know the first thing about repairing his own robes anyways. ”Don’t forget you need new dress robes for the ball this year. Your old ones are horrid and there’s no way I’m letting you take Mercy to it wearing them. She’d be the laughing stock of the entire fifth year.” She added as she drooled over a pair of fishnet stockings. If she actually had anything to go with them she would have bought them. ”Yes, yes you told me about the dress robes five times already. And hang on, how do you even know that she would be going with me?” Keiran said as he walked over to a rack laden with black dress robes. ”Ha. Please, as if the two of you wouldn’t go together. If Mercy so much as tries to say yes to any other person because of this ‘open-relationship’ crap y’all agreed on I’m stuffing the guy in the vanishing cabinet or something. And don’t you tell me you wouldn’t do the same.” Athena replied, throwing him a look over her shoulder as she finally gave in and grabbed the stockings. She’d find something to wear them with eventually. Keiran just rubbed the back of his neck nervously in response.
Meanwhile.
Katerina giggled at Lydia’s bet and shook her head ”I don’t know, Mercy can be pretty stubborn. I’d bet two galleons it takes almost three months before Keiran has to tell her it’s time to close the relationship and see only each other. Otherwise they’d probably be in their nineties and still in an open relationship.” She said giggling a little more. It was always teasing Mercy. It was honestly Athena who had first told them that she thought Mercy had a bit more than friendship on her mind when it came to Keiran and since then they had teased her relentlessly about it. Talking about Athena and Keiran, they had made it to Madame Malkin’s before them and were already browsing the little shop.
”Ooof. Geez Lyd, you act like you haven’t seen me in years! And I HAVE written to you everyday…what more do you expect? Every hour? Don’t answer that.” Athena said as she was practically hug attacked by Lydia. Kat pulled Lydia off of Athena only to throw her arms around her friend as well. ”Thanks guys, getting my insides squished to a pulp was just what I needed before getting my fitting, now my measurements will be off.” She told them even as she hugged Katerina back. She loved her friends to pieces and had missed them dearly over the summer. Of course, she had also missed watching Keiran and Mercy’s interactions with one another.
”Yeah, totally. It was so amazing we got bitched at all summer…oh we did dye Roland’s hair blue for a couple of days. Everytime he walked into a room we called him Hades, like the dude off of Hercules.” Keiran said, falling into his old groove almost instantly. Okay so he totally wanted to kiss her but it had been her idea they keep their relationship open. Plus her father would kill him on sight if he were to catch him even with a hand on her. ”You dyed Roland’s hair blue?” Kat said looking incredulous…while Roland was their brother he was not near as friendly as Athena and Keiran were. ”Yes! Oh my goodness guys you missed it! It was the funniest thing ever. I got a couple of pictures that survived his rampage…and Lilith’s, I’ll show you them later don’t let me forget. Anywho that’s enough about US what about y’all?” Athena said, totally butting into their conversation, she was going to have to talk to Mercy later…have a good summer? Really? Lame. It’s not like they just had sex for the first time, now THAT’S when she was allowed to be awkward. But they had just redefined their relationship not grown two extra heads or something.

Both Mercy and Lydia delighted in the news regarding Roland's hair. "I would have killed to see his reaction," Lydia said, eager to see the evidence later. She most certainly wouldn' let Athena forget. "That's actually a really good idea..." Mercy said, inspired by their trick. Living wth John and Jared, Mercy had to deal with such pranks from her brothers all the time, so she was always trying to come up with ways to get even.
"Well, there's nothing new wih me, but LYDIA here has been eying up Aiden all summer..." Mercy said, nudging her friend. They had been teasing her about Keiran, so it was her right to reciprocate. Lydia's face redenned. "I have not," Lydia lied. "Have too. And he eyes you up whenever you're not looking."
"No he doesn't... does he?" Lydia bit her lip, wondering if this was actually true. "Of course he does! You should have seen him looking at your boobs this morning, during breakfast," Mercy insisted. At that, Lydia actually looked down at her own boobs, as if wondering if they were really worth admiring. Mercy rolled her eyes at this.
"Oh, and I broke John's nose again," Mercy said, smiling. Over the years, Mercy had broken John's nose at least half a dozen times. Their mother always fixed it and Mercy was always getting in trouble for it, but it was well worth it. A few times it was just from punching him in the face, but there were other, more creative and funnier instances. "It wasn't completely my fault this time though... okay, it was. I literally slammed the door in his face."
"There was blood everywhere," Lydia said, nodding and looking back up from squeezing her breasts together.
"Okay, let's get started on your measurements then, shall we? What on earth are you doing, dear?" Madam Malkin asked, looking at Lydia who immediately let go of her own boobs, her face turning red.
By the time they were all done getting their new robes, they were ready to hit the rest of the stores to gather up the rest of what they needed. By the time they were done, there was no way any of them wanted to hold onto the bags of supplies that they'd bought. Leaving their friends only for a few minutes, the girls went off in search of Sophia and, when they found her, Mercy was relieved that her father was busy at the counter of the bookstore. She didn't feel like being questioned about whether or not she'd been hanging around Keiran. Her mother had been more than happy to hold onto her things so that they didn't have to lug them around and they slipped off just as James was getting done with his purchase, escaping just in time.
Back outside, they went off to meet Keiran and Athena where Athena had been waiting for all of them. "Where do we want to go now?" Mercy asked, but before anyone could answer her, an arm wrapped around her shoulders. "Well fancy seeing you guys here!"
"God damn it," Mercy said, elbowing her brother in the gut so that he would get off of her. John made an oof noise and Jared sniggered. "Why don't the three of you go jump off of a cliff?" Mercy asked them, her face turning red. She'd been caught red handed, doinng he one thing her father had told her not to do that day. "Now Mercy, that is no way to talk to your favorite brothers, especially now that we know what you've been up to today. No offense guys, but sometimes we have to use all the leverage we can get," John said, adding this last bit for Keiran and Athena.
"What do you want then?" Mercy asked them, narrowing her eyes. Her brothers didn't mind Keiran and Athena at all. The only issue John ever had with Keiran was the fact that they were both seekers for opposing quidditch teams. Other than their quidditch rivalry though, they usually got along just fine. "Well, mom's been on us about cleaning our room."
"No way, it's gross in there... and it smells weird."
"No? Okay, let's just go find dad then," Jared said.
"You wouldn't."
"Yes we would," John and Jared both said together.
"Fine," Mercy agreed, grabbing John's arm as he was about to walk off. She wasn't entirely sure if they would do it or not, but she wasn't taking her chances. "Lovely. So where are we going?" Jared asked them, looking around at each of their faces.
"WE?" Lydia asked, arching a brow.
"You mean, you're not going to let us hang out with you? I'm hurt, guys. We just wanted to spend some quality time together." John insisted, smiling. Mercy and Lydia didn't believe that for a second. They always had ulterior motives. "Come on, I know of some fun stuff we can do!" John said, nudging his sister who just gave him a weary look. Even she would admit though... it was never a dull time when John, Jared, and Killian were around... "Your idea of fun usually gets us all in trouble though..." Lydia pointed out, a little torn. They usually did have fun, after all.
"When have you ever known us to get into trouble?" Jared asked, acting innocent. "I think you have the wrong idea about us. John, Killian, and I are sticklers for the rules. I believe it's all of you that tend to get us in trouble."
