There were some things Lydia was going to miss about living in her apartment. She would miss how cozy and bright it was, that was for sure. She wasn’t going to miss looking out the window and seeing Marc out there though, watching and waiting for her to let her guard down. With Aiden, Lydia knew she would be safe. Marc would never find her there and she knew that Aiden would do everything in his power to make sure Marc never touched her again.
Now that Aiden knew what had happened to her, she felt as though a huge weight had been lifted off of her shoulders. It was easier to get close to him now, though he had been careful to not push her too far. He was just so incredibly patient with her, helping her pick up the pieces of her shattered heart and glue them back together.
Being with Aiden again made it easier to move forward and she wanted the life that they should have had. She wanted what her father had stolen from them: the opportunity for her, Aiden, Lena, and Stryder to be a fully functioning family, without Death Eater’s looming over them. They were finally free of their secrets, leaving only one thing standing in the way of them seizing what they wanted: Lydia’s fear of intimacy.
They’d spent most of their day moving her and Stryder’s things from the apartment and into Aiden’s house. As for the apartment itself, Lydia decided to rent it out to someone. Perhaps Lena could move into it when she was ready to move out in a few more years since she seemed to adore the place so much anyway. They weren’t going to tell the kids about the move just yet, figuring it would be a nice little surprise for them when they came home for Christmas.
With Aiden taking a shower, Lydia was left to ponder over this latest development in their relationship alone as she finished putting her clothes away. When she was done with that, she sprawled out on top of the bed, thinking about what this meant for them. She didn’t think it was possible, but she’d come to love Aiden even more than she had twelve years ago.
They were older now and had had the opportunity to explore life devoid of each other and it was amazing how much brighter and more promising it was with him. They’d both grown in many ways and they both had wounds, but they were healing together. It was funny how they’d tried so hard to stay away from each other, but life and fate had a way of bringing them back together.
She believed that they deserved this second chance and she was going to make the most of it, but she hated herself for not being able to give him what she knew he wanted… what they both wanted, really. Lydia worried that if she didn’t work up the courage soon, she would never be able to. They’d come close a few times, but there was always a point that Lydia had to stop. It wasn’t Aiden’s fault and she just hoped he knew that and, with Aiden’s help, she was finally able to admit that it wasn’t her fault either. There was only one person who was responsible for the fact that Lydia feared getting close to anyone… and Marc was certainly going to pay for it. She didn’t know how and she didn’t know when, but he was going to rue the day that he tied her to her own bed with his belt and raped her.
Laying there and thinking about this, Lydia turned her head to look out the window, a startling realization hitting her as she looked out into the night. She was safe. Marc wasn’t out there watching her and she was right where she belonged. She could sleep through the night without having to worry about her rapist breaking in and, best of all, she could sleep through the night in the arms of the man she loved… the man she thought she’d lost forever.
Swallowing hard as a sudden well of emotions hit her, she sat up and looked toward the bathroom door, able to hear the sound of the water running now. What was really holding her back? Why was she so afraid to take that next step? It wouldn’t be the first time that she and Aiden had sex and she definitely trusted him. He’d been there for her through so much and he’d forgiven her for the worst mistake of her life, despite just how much it had hurt him. There wasn’t a doubt in her mind that this man was her soul mate.
So why was she holding back? If he wanted her, he deserved all of her and she wanted to give him that… but not just for him. She had to do it for her as well and she had to realize that she deserved him just as much as he deserved her. If she took this step, there was no more hiding behind a wall because that wall had to come crashing down. Why should she allow something Marc had done to come between them?
Marc was nothing and she was most certainly stronger than him or anything he could ever do to her. Marc hadn’t been able to come between her and Aiden all those years ago, so why should she let him now? Lydia wasn’t going to live in fear of him anymore. She wasn’t going to let him win and she was going to take back her life.
Seizing her opportunity while she still had the courage, Lydia climbed off of the bed and made her way toward the bathroom where the door was open a crack. Quietly sliding in, she rid herself of her clothes, letting them fall to the bathroom floor.
Her heart was already pounding but she both wanted and needed this. She loved Aiden and nothing had changed that over the years and nothing ever would. When Lydia climbed climbed into that shower with him, she left all of her fears and doubts behind. There was no reason for her to be scared of being intimate with Aiden anyway.
Softly closing the shower door behind her, Lydia stepped close to him, the steam heavy in the air. Vaguely, she remembered the day that Aiden had first seen her naked in the shower and warmth filled her heart. Pressing a soft kiss to his back, between his shoulders, Lydia felt like a teenaged girl again, nervous and giddy in only the best of ways.
It was amazing how just being near him could make her heart swell the way that it did. He filled her heart with so much love and hope for the future and now she wanted him to fill her in a way he hadn’t in twelve long years. Nobody had ever compared to him, especially when it came to having sex.
Her body pressed against his back as the water showered down on them, her bare nipples grazing against his skin, tantalizing them both. God did she want him. She hadn’t felt desire since before she was raped, but she hadn’t felt desire this intense since before Aiden left her all those years ago. She was growing wet purely from anticipation.
”I thought you could use some company…” she said softly, trailing the tips of her fingers down his back. There was boldness and determination in her every move, a definite change from their previous attempts to be this intimate recently. Her green eyes sparked with passion and she she was eager to feel the heat of his lips against hers. She was so ready for this and she wasn’t going to stop this time. She just couldn’t.
