Not for the first time Katerina wondered how she had ever thought Justin was a sweet innocent guy who would be a good guy to date to get her mind off the one person she really liked. How could she have been so wrong? She walked quickly in the opposite direction of where her ex-boyfriend had been, not wanting to run into him again for a while. She had only gone into the restroom for a moment to fix her hair since Caleb, a guy in her last class, had messed it up so much that she couldn't fix it without a mirror. But apparently Justin had been following her and had jumped her from behind as she walked out grabbing her quite harshly by the throat.
Kat had definitely put up a fight back but not without getting punched in the eye and almost strangled. Even as she walked she could feel the bruises starting to form, her throat hurt but it was her eye that was really killing her. It seemed to throb harder with every step she took. She should have gone back into the bathroom and tried to cover the marks up with concealer but that would have made her late to class which she had promised Mercy, Lydia and Athena she would meet them in shortly. Katerina was surprised they hadn't come looking for her honestly.
Of course she was too preoccupied with her anger and frustration that she wasn't watching where she was going. More like looking over her shoulder to make sure the asshole wasn't following her to her next class. It was while her head was turned that she ran right smack into another student and her book fell to the floor. Luckily her hair had just happened to fall across her eye the moment she looked to see who she had ran into. Shit. This was the last person she wanted to run into at that moment. While Katerina liked John...or well by now it was probably more than just like, she had no time for him to go off and fight her own fights right now. Which she was more than positive he would do.
Not even saying sorry she decided to just leave the book where it was, hoping that John would leave her alone about it. But of course that was too good to be true. She had made it only a short ways, him calling after her to stop, before he stopped her. Kat knew that every moment her marks were darkening into bruises, the redness turning into black, blues and purples. It sucked that Justin had managed to leave a semi circle around her throat from where he grabbed her...if it wasn't for that she probably could have successfully hidden her eye behind the fall of her hair. She braced herself for his reaction.

"I'll see you later," John said to a friend of his as they went their separate ways. Turning around, he was about to head to his next class when someone plowed right into him. "Oww, hey," he complained, squatting down to pick up the book that she had dropped. Looking up at whoever had bumped into him, John's brows knitted together when he saw Kat. Sure, all he could see was her back, but he'd admired her from this angle so may times before that he could tell right away that it was her. "Hey, KitKat!" he called after her. She either couldn't hear him or she was downright ignoring him.
"Kat!" he called again, jogging up behind her. She was definitely ignorng him. Usually this wouldn't bother him. He'd been given the silent treatment plenty of times, especially by his sisters. But this time, he couldn't remember actually doing anything to deserve it. "Kat!" He grabbed her by the arm, making her stop. "You dropped this, are you-"
He stopped short when he saw the beginnings of the bruise around her neck. That wasn't all though. Tucking her hair behind her ear, to get it out of her face, he could clearly see where he'd hit her. In that moment, every fiber of John's being caught fire and his blood began to boil. Had Cailan's warning not been enough? Justin really needed to be told again to keep his hands off of Kat?
"Where is he?" he asked Kat, giving back her book. There was a furious gleam in his blue eyes and in that moment, John Scarborough wasn't his usual fliry, cocky, and humorous self. He was downright scary. Taking Kat by the hand, John started pulling her in the direction that she'd been coming from. Despite his anger, his hold on her wasn't crushing. No, John could never hurt Kat the way Justin had. John would, however, do much, much worse to that scumbag.
"Where did he go, Kat? Just tell me. I'm going to hunt him down like the animal that he is whether you tell me or not." Eyes sarching for the bastard, John was seeing nothing but red.

Katerina had never hated the fact that there were so many boys in her life, it had always been cool to have an older brother that would have her back no matter what, and the Scarborough boys were just another extension of that protection. But at that moment she wished that they would at least realize it was the twenty-first century and women were allowed to fight their own fights. And she had. Justin was probably limping off to charms class...honking like a goose as he did so even as John dragged her back in the direction she had just come from.
Kat knew it was no use trying to tell him that she had actually hurt him worse than he had hurt her...even if it was more in ego than anything else. But it didn't hurt to add it in as she took forever to tell him where Justing should be headed. "I don't know, what time is it? Oh right, it's time for me to be in Defense class so that would mean, if I remember correctly that is, that Justin is probably, most likely, almost one hundred percent going to charms class. He'll be hard to miss though. He has an obvious limp and unless someone used the counter curse on him he's honking like a goose." Kat told him rather long windedly. She would rather John not catch up to him right then, making even more of a scene than they already had earlier.
Even as she thought this she caught sight of his head bobbing in the crowd in front of them, and apparently he had at least one friend because unfortunately he was no longer honking loudly through the corridor. Katerina sighed, knowing that John would or probably already had noticed his target and that she would once again be the reason Justin had his ass kicked. And from the look on John's face Kat was glad she wasn't on the receiving end of his anger. To be honest she didn't think she had ever seen him this angry, he looked downright livid to be honest.
This got her mind off of Justin for a moment as she wondered at why John would have gotten so much angrier than her brother about this. It was definitely a difficult feat to say the least as Cailan had been pretty livid himself that night she had broken things off with Justin. Could John maybe have actually feelings for her? Or did he just view her as another sister since she was always around? Mercy would probably agree with the latter, as she had always said John was just a womanizer...but could there be more to him than that? This was hardly the time to be having these thoughts though...

John just ignored when she tried telling him that she was supposed to be in Defense Against the Dark Arts. He wasn't going to stand for this anymore. Justin obviously hadn't learned his lesson and while John knew that Kat could handle her own, she shouldn't have to be in a position to defend herself like that. That stupid Hufflepuff needed to learn to keep his hands to himself or else he was going to get it all back two fold.
John didn't usually go for such a direct approach. Up until that point, he'd gotten back at Justin in more inconspicuous ways, such as using magic to tie his shoe laces together, or getting Peeves to pelt dung bombs at him. He was always gettinng in trouble for pulling pranks and such, but what he did next was something he'd never gotten in trouble for in school before.
"Hey, Justin!" John said, coming up behind him and letting go of Kat's hand. Just as Justin turned around, John's fist made contact with his face and the jackass fell right onto the floor. All around them, students gasped and jumped out of the way, crowding around to watch the fight that was breaking out. "What the fuck!" Justin yelled, his nose busted. John didn't stop there though and, when Justin went for his want, John stepped on his hand. Picking the wand up off of the ground a the coward howled, he tossed it away. Yanking him up off of the floor by his robes, John practically threw him into the wall, holding him there and punching him right in the gut.
"What's wrong?! You can't fight another guy? That's right, you just like beating girls up, don't you?" John egged him on. Now it was Justin's turn to get angry. Pushinng John off of him, he then proceeded to tackle him, the two of them slamming into a suit of armor before landing on the floor. Fists were swinging through the air as the boys rolled arond on the ground, each trying to gain the upper hand. The suit of armor that they'd barelled into wobbled before it finally tipped, landing right where John had been laying moments before, until he managed to get the upper hand again.
"It's none of your fucking business, asshole," Justin said, spitting out blood. "Did you ever think that maybe the bitch deserved it?" By now, both boys were sporting bloody noses and looked like they'd been his by a truck. This obviously wasn't the right thing to say to John thought and, pinning Justin to the floor, he hit the bastard again and again. He wasn't going to stop either.
