Okay, so Lydia had to tell someone. She would be lying if she said she wasn’t panicking just a little bit, wondering how the hell she was going to tell Aiden. One thing was for sure though… she had to tell him. There was no running off and keeping it a secret for twelve years this time. She knew she needed to own up to it. That, of course, didn’t mean that she wasn’t nervous.
It wasn’t like she had planned on having sex. It was something she had lived without since that night with Marc and something she had never expected to want again until Aiden came back into her life. It was safe to say that the more comfortable she was getting though, the better the sex was. After all, they weren’t teenagers anymore. Both of them had a little more experience under their belts. Seeing as none of it had been planned, however, and she hadn’t been thinking much about sex at all since she was raped… well, let’s just say birth control hadn’t exactly been on her list of things to pick up.
At first, she was worried about having some sort of stomach bug. It wasn’t until she caught sight of the unopened box of tampons that she had stashed in Aiden’s bathroom that it dawned on her. The test only confirmed it: Lydia was pregnant. Of course she was scared and worried, but even she knew that she was nowhere near as terrified as she was the first time around. She was a lot older now and she knew that she knew that she and Aiden were in this together… if she could just work up the courage to tell him.
Of course, working up the courage to tell her boyfriend that she was pregnant wasn’t her only concern. She also had to consider the fact that she had Death Eaters out to kill her under her father’s orders. Oh, and her father was hell bent on killing any children she and Aiden produced. With another one on the way, they didn’t just have Stryder to protect from her father.
Speaking of Stryder, she had no idea how her son was going to react to this news. He’d been the center of her world his entire life, but everything was changing on him so fast. Though Aiden coming into his life was a blessing, Stryder wasn’t technically an only child anymore. Lena may have been his cousin by blood, but Aiden had adopted her, making her Stryder’s sister now. Then there was the matter of Dani who was growing to be a sister to both of them now that Aiden was fostering her. Now there was another sibling coming into the picture for Stryder and she was worried about how he would take it. It wasn’t like he had a choice in the matter, whether he liked it or not. Lena and Dani would be excited for sure and that gave her some comfort.
In a way, Lydia was excited as well. That excitement was just hidden under the worry over Death Eaters trying to murder her. Of course she wanted another baby and of course she wanted it to be with Aiden. She just hadn’t expected it to happen so soon after getting back together with him. How was she going to tell him that she slipped up, didn’t use birth control, and now he was going to have another shot at being a dad? God she needed a bottle of white wine right about then… oh, right.
Needing some advice with the issue, Lydia had called on the people she trusted the most to give her useful advice. That being said, Mercy, Kat, and Athena had all agreed to meet her at the Leaky Cauldron for lunch. Looking at the clock on the wall, she knew they would be there any minute. ”YOU,” she said, turning to Killian. ”Can go sit at the bar.” There was no way in hell she was letting him intrude on their girls only lunch date, especially since she was going to be telling her best friends that she was pregnant. The last thing she needed was Killian going and spilling the beans to Aiden before she could tell him herself. Constantly having an auror around her was a bit of a drag sometimes, but at least she was lucky enough to have people she considered to be her friends following her around.
Mercy was practically bouncing with every step. She was the epitome of the term “glowing” when it came to describing pregnant women. Since she and Keiran found out two weeks before, they were already making plans for the baby. Of course, Mercy was also trying weird tactics to assimilate Zeus and Nox into a life with a baby around. Just the night before, she’d roused both of them from their sleep with a recording of a crying baby, insisting that they needed to get used to the sound.
They had agreed not to tell anyone until after the first ultrasound… but after making plans to meet with the girls, Mercy had insisted the she needed to tell them. This was the biggest moment of her entire life, next to the day she told them she and Keiran were getting married. She just had to tell them.
Walking into the Leaky Cauldron, she stood on her toes, craning her neck to see over heads in an attempt to spot one of her friends. It was Killian that she spotted first. A broad smile crossing her face, Mercy made a bee-line right for him and Lydia. ”This is the loser you have tailing you today? It’s a wonder you’re still alive,” she said, giving Lydia a gigantic hug and shooting Killian a look. He was more like a pain in the ass older brother to her than anything else.
